Alpine landscape on the route up to the Furka Pass from the Reuiss Valley in Uri Canton, just after it opened after a seven month winter. Historically this area, around Uri belonged to the National Redoubt, the final Swiss line of defence in the high alps, and is checked with the remains of millitray installations, many of them underground, still camouflaged.
