Asylum's seeker's mobile phone charging at a registration center turned emergency shelter - for asylum seekers - in the former offfices of a newpaper, the Kurier, in Lindengasse in the city, run by the Austrian Red Cross with the help of volunteers from various organisations. At this site asylum seekers register with the poilce, and also with Vienna authorities, to in theory give them access to the Austrian social system. The site also provides meals and a place to stay for one night. The building is presently full. In theory buses leave from here to take people to more permanent camps but due to lack of space in such sites, people are often staying several days, waiting for buses. These include family groups, some with young children.
