Man wrapped in UNHCR blanket and children, by the border fence separating Serbia from Croatia. They are among some 2,000 refugees and migrants who are stuck on the border. They have been waiting since midday when the border was closed for the second time in the day, and no one knows when it will open again. They prepare to spend the night on a muddy field in the no man's land between Serbia and Croatia. People are shivering, children are crying, their clothes are wet and dirty. Some 3,000 people were already left waiting in the rain in the past two days without shelter and with minimal assistance on hand.
As of Tuesday morning, there were more than 27,500 people on the Aegean Islands, either awaiting registration or onward transport to the mainland, and 5,000 new arrivals were recorded every day.
