Syrian refugee boy carrying red boots he has just received froma stock of footwear brought by volunteers at collection point number 1 near Röszke. This site is a kilomtere in from a gap in the border fence along an old railway line, one of the principal access routes used by refugees entering HUngary from Serbia. Thousands of refugees crossed the border into Hungary heading towards Western Europe, until a 15 September deadline set by the Hungarian authorities to seal its border fence and bring in new restrictive laws limiting access of refugees to its territory, effectively stopping the flow of refugees.
