Syrian refugees walking through crops in fields in an attempt to avoid the Hunagrian authorities, soon after having crossed the border through a gap in the border fence. Refugees were required by the Hungarian police to board buses and be taken for registration, a process which many refugees wished to avoid, due to fears of fingerprinting, and no longer having the right to go on to Germany or another country. Thousands of refugees crossed the border into Hungary heading towards Western Europe, until a 15 September deadline set by the Hungarian authorities to seal its border fence and bring in new restrictive laws limiting access of refugees to its territory, effectively stopping the flow of refugees.
