End of an era: microphones in the main United Nations press briefing room in the Palais des Nations, after being used for the last time and prior to being cleared for renovation. The microphones were spread around the room for journalists questios to be recorded for broadcast TV as well as for the feed to simultaneous translation depending on the situtaion. Once the work is completed the press conferences and briefingsi will be held elsewhere. The $800 million renovaton and construction project at the Palais des Nations, the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), is set to transform not only the buildings and their use but working practices as well.
