Crucifix standing above the road leading to the Oberalp Pass (2044m) linking Uri and Graubunden Cantons in the Swiss Alps, shortly before the road link closes for months. The area belonged to the National Redoubt, the final Swiss line of defence in the high alps, and is checkered with the remains of millitray installations, many of them underground, still camouflaged.
