Having crossed the border they are waiting patiently for permission to advance to take transport onwards into Austria. A standoff lasting weeks and blocking thousands of refugees, most of them Syrian, at Budapest’s main railway station has ended dramatically. More than 1,000 refugees began a march on foot to Vienna because the Hungarian government wouldn’t let them take trains to Austria and Germany.
