Refugee charging a mobile phone using the electric supply for a tent set up to shelter refugees and migrants on the road leading to the border with Croatia at Berkasovo. This night 2,000 refugees and migrants were stuck here. They have been waiting since midday when the border was closed for the second time and no one knows when it will open again. People are shivering, children are crying, their clothes are wet and dirty. Some 3,000 people were already left waiting in the rain in the past two days little shelter exempt these tents, and with minimal assistance on hand.

Mobile phones have played a major part in helping refugees - from geo location, exchange of information, to contact with families - sometimes separated in the chaotic border crossings.

As of Tuesday morning, there were more than 27,500 people on the Aegean Islands, either awaiting registration or onward transport to the mainland, and 5,000 new arrivals were recorded every day.
