An extremely rare press briefing by the Chinese Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, on the Coronavirus situation at the Palais des Nations, to members of ACANU - the Association of Correspondents to the UN, following on from the confirmation of a global health emergency, and a travel ban announced by the US.

"I hope calm responsible and objective attitude could be conducted in this outbreak. There is no need for unnecessary panic or excessive measures. Dear friends the situation is very serious, we have to ackowledge the seriousness of the matter.…. we have the full confidence in defeating the epidemic ..... freedom of press is not an issue in this case"
